The Indian Under-19 side concluded their impressive tournament performance with a crushing loss in the final match of the Under-19 Asia Cup One-Day tournament. During the title clash on Sunday, India bowed down to their arch-rivals Pakistan by 191 runs.
Pakistan Sets a High Total
- Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first. It was an impressive performance by opener Sameer Minhas. Sameer scored 172 runs off a total of 113 balls, with the help of 17 fours and 9 sixes. This laid the foundation for the Pakistani team of 347/8.
- A contribution of 56 runs was made by Ahmed Hussain, while 35 runs came from Usman Khan. Key partnerships in the innings included 92 runs for the second wicket between Sameer Minhas and Usman Khan, 137 runs for the third wicket between Sameer Minhas and Ahmed Hussain, and 42 runs for the fourth wicket between Sameer Minhas and Farhan, who scored 19 runs.
- The Indian bowling team struggled to restrict the runs. Deepesh took 3 wickets but leaked 83 runs. Kanishk Chauhan leaked 72 runs for one wicket. Henil Patel grabbed 2 wickets for 62 runs. Indias Chase Falls Apart
- The Indian run chase kept struggling to gather momentum. They kept losing wickets periodically and were unable to form partnerships. The Pakistani bowlers kept the Indian team under constant pressure.
- Opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi began aggressively. He scored 26 runs from only 10 balls, with one four and three sixes. But, he was caught in the fifth over, having scored 49 runs. Ayush Matre added 2, followed by Aaron George with 16 runs.
- India further fell as the wickets of Vihan Malhotra (7) and Vedant Trivedi (9) got lost. India was reduced to 68/5, and the game was over. The Indian batting lineup struggled to revive the innings. India lost all their wickets for 156 runs in 26.2 overs.
- Deepesh scored the most runs for India with a total of 36. He was followed by Khilan Patel with 19 and Abhigyan Kundu with 13.
Bowling Performance in Pakistan
The Pakistan bowlers bowled a controlled performance. Ali Raza was the leading wicket-taker with 4 wickets for 42 runs. Subhan picked up 2 wickets for 29, Sayyam finished with 2 wickets for 38, and Huzaifa took 2 wickets for 12.
