India is going to play New Zealand from January 11. There will be three ODIs and five T20 Internationals in this series. The T20 World Cup will be held from February 7 to March 8 in India and Sri Lanka. The BCCI has announced the Indian team for this big event. The same team will play in the T20 series against New Zealand. But the team for the ODIs series is yet to be decided.
Bumrah and Hardik Expected to Miss ODI Series
- As per reports, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya are likely to be given a break in the ODI series match between India and New Zealand. This is related to their workload. Their aim is to make them fit enough for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
- Hardik Pandya has not played in the ODIs since the final match of the Champions Trophy. Jasprit Bumrah also hasn't played in ODIs since the final match of the World Cup in 2023.
Possible Change in Wicketkeeper Selection
There are also reports about the possible replacement in the wicket-keeper position. Ishan Kishan or Jitesh Sharma might get a place in the team in lieu of the injured Rishabh Pant. They are performing pretty well. But according to the cricket experts, Ishan Kishan has a better prospect of being picked. There is no official intimation from the BCCI.
Participation in Domestic Cricket
The BCCI has declared domestic cricket a necessity for all national players. As a result, Hardik Pandya is set to represent Baroda in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Baroda's last three group matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy are scheduled in Rajkot on January 3, 6, and 8. Hardik is set to feature in at least two games.
