PV Sindhu Reaches 500 Career Match Wins

Indian badminton player PV Sindhu has achieved a landmark in her professional career by reaching the total of 500 match victories. As a result, she has secured a spot among the top six women's singles players in history. In addition, she has become the first Indian shuttler to reach such heights.

Milestone Reached at the Indonesia Masters

  • Sindhu set the new record during the pre-quarterfinals of the Indonesia Masters Super 500 tournament. On Thursday, she triumphed over Denmark's Line Christophersen and thus attained her 500th victory.
  • Even after losing to the unseeded Japanese player Manami Suizu in the first round, Sindhu came back with a great performance. She won the match against Christophersen in straight games with the scores of 21-19 and 21-18. The match lasted for 43 minutes. This win marked the fifth victory for Sindhu over Christophersen in the six times they have faced each other.

Recent Performances and Current Ranking

Sindhu has recently competed in the semi-finals of the Malaysia Open Super 1000, but last week she was knocked out in the first round of the India Open. Her current world ranking is the 13th.

Upcoming Challenge Against Chen Yu Fei

At the current tournament, Sindhu is up against the top seeded player and world No. 4 Chen Yu Fei from China. The two players have met 13 times thus far, with Sindhu winning 7 of the matches and Chen Yu Fei winning 6. The last time Sindhu defeated Chen was in 2019, and she will be looking to win over them in their next match.
