Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy unveiling ceremony, which was scheduled on June 14 at Lord's, has been postponed. This is after a plane crash happened near Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Thursday.
Crash Details and Immediate Impact
An Air India aircraft crashed near Ahmedabad airport in the afternoon on Thursday, killing as many as 275 people. In response to this disaster, the dual function ceremony by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was postponed.
Future Plans and Trophy Background
Both ECB and BCCI officials have not scheduled a new date for the event yet. An announcement for a rescheduled date is due soon.
The Pataudi Trophy used to be given to the winner of the England-India Test series. That name has been retired. The Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy took its place.
