Kremlin Responds to Trump's Remarks
The Kremlin rejected remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump, who had referred to Russia as a "paper tiger." Trump stated that Russia is economically stressed due to the extended war in Ukraine. Moscow hit back by saying Russia should be compared to a "bear," not a "tiger."
Russia's Position
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov suggested Russia is not a paper tiger. He declared there is no "paper bear." Russia, in his view, possesses a strong economy and developing forces in Ukraine. Russian troops go in with caution to avoid losses and implement clear-cut strategies, Peskov suggested. Peskov warned the military strength of Russia should not be underestimated.
Trump's Comments on the War
Trump attempted to railroad a peace accord between Russia and Ukraine. However, his latest comments signaled a change of tone. In the UN General Assembly, Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Later, on Truth Social, Trump said Russia had become a "paper tiger" following more than three years of warfare. He said Ukraine might be able to take back their lost territories. Trump also argued that the war is being expensive for Russia and limiting its ability to bring in money from selling oil.
