US President Donald Trump has reiterated that he is not seeking to contest for a third term. He clarified that the US Constitution does not allow it. Addressing the press, Trump told them, "According to voting statistics, I am leading. But I feel I am not supposed to run again. Let's see what happens. It does not feel right not to be able to challenge despite public support."
Reactions to Trump's Statement
Since taking office for a second term, Trump's firm actions have attracted worldwide attention. There have been speculations that he was contemplating a third attempt at the presidency. But Trump has rebuffed those allegations. He also dismissed the possibility of becoming vice president in 2028, describing the idea as "cute," but stating that "people do not like it.
Trump said that there are potential means to attempt to become president again, though he has not investigated them. In reply, US House Speaker Mike Johnson explained that the Constitution does not include any legal means for a third presidential term.
Trump Comments on the Gaza Situation
Trump also commented on the current situation in Gaza. He remarked that no one should try to disrupt the peace there. He warned that if Hamas doesn't obey the ceasefire agreement, Israel will be justified in retaliating with attacks. Trump said that the United States will not deploy troops to go into the conflict but will continue to support Israel diplomatically.
