Flight Cancellations To Border Cities Due To Security Concerns

Drone Sighting Near Border; Domestic Airlines Cancel Flights

With a ceasefire deal in place, reports of drone sightings along the India-Pakistan border emerged once again on Monday evening. These incidents have heightened safety concerns at the affected locations, resulting in public concern.

Domestic Airlines Act on Safety Threats

Domestic airlines responded by issuing warnings. Air India and IndiGo have both stopped flying to numerous towns and cities along the world's longest borderline.

Air India Statement

Air India stated:

"Due to recent developments and to guarantee passenger safety, we are temporarily suspending operations to Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot on Tuesday, May 13. We are keeping a watchful eye and will update when necessary."

IndiGo's Response

IndiGo made the same statement:

"Passenger safety is our first concern. We apologize for the inconvenience. While we have not cancelled all flights, we have suspended operations to Srinagar, Leh, Rajkot, Chandigarh, Jammu, and Amritsar."

Security Measures and Military Update

Even though security tensions had eased, and 32 airports resumed operations from Monday, drone activity was once again witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba sector in the evening of Monday. A spy drone was also shot down by the military in Jalandhar, Punjab. They ensured that the situation is in hand and asked people to not panic.

Flight Disruptions Continue

As a result, an IndiGo flight between Delhi and Amritsar was diverted. The airline later issued a suspension of its flight services to the hit zones. Air India also affirmed a similar action.
