Union Home Minister Tours Jammu & Kashmir, Discusses Situation
BSF Operation and Its Aftermath
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Pakistan would take four to five years to come back from the losses that India's Border Security Force (BSF) inflicted on them during a recent operation. He asserted that Indian forces have destroyed 118 Pakistani posts. Intelligence networks and communication channels across the border were also destroyed.
Visit to Poonch and Support Measures
During his two-day tour of Jammu and Kashmir, Amit Shah held meetings with families who were hit by the recent terror attacks in Poonch. He promised that the Central Government is going to announce a compensation scheme soon. The scheme will have assistance for damaged homes, shops, and places of worship.
India's Response and Security Assurance
Amit Shah revealed that Pakistan employed civilians as human shields during the attack, and it is a condemnable act. Indian forces had a strong and befitting response, he added. He emphasized that such incidents won't impact the progress of Jammu and Kashmir.
Infrastructure and Civil Protection
Highlighting progress, he said that since 2014, more than 9,500 bunkers have been built along the border. These helped protect local residents for three days during recent clashes.
Public Reaction and Ongoing Efforts
While traveling the area with Delhi Minister Majinder Singh and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, people greeted him with patriotic slogans. He also attended a late-night meeting with top officials to evaluate the security of the area and make arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra from July 3. He requested officials to provide full security to all pilgrims during the 38-day pilgrimage.
