Donald Trump Shortens G7 Visit Amid Rising Israel-Iran Tensions

Trump Departs Canada Amid Middle East Tensions

West Asian tensions have mounted as Israel and Iran keep firing missiles at each other. Reacting to it, U.S. President Donald Trump has opted to cut short his G7 Summit tour in Canada. He is flying back to the United States to take care of the escalating crisis.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt acknowledged this shift. She added that while Trump met and agreed with other leaders - specifically UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer - he decided to depart early in response to the developing war. A group photo with G7 leaders was attended to Monday evening (Canada time), following which Trump announced his hurried return. French President Emmanuel Macron was supportive, confirming Trump had made the correct decision.

Emergency Meeting Planned in Washington

Trump will, on arrival in the U.S., conduct an emergency meeting with the National Security Council. Plans are in place in the White House Situation Room. It could be just a matter of time before major decisions on the Iran-Israel matter follow.

Trump has already instructed U.S. citizens in Tehran to leave the country right away. This alert suggests a possibility of more aggressive military actions. There are indications that the U.S. would contemplate direct intervention in case the conflict escalates.
