Amit Shah Highlights Importance Of Indian Languages

Union Minister Seeks Revival of Linguistic Heritage

Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently laid emphasis on Indian languages. He said that one day people who like to speak English can regret it. He is of the view that Indian languages are the nation's cultural values and need to be preserved to protect national identity.

Indian Languages as Cultural Assets

At the launch of a book by erstwhile IAS officer Ashutosh Agnihotri, Shah talked of the place of indigenous languages. "Our languages are cultural jewels. Without them, we cannot be true Indians," he said. He further opined that attempts should be made to revive and promote these languages in our lives.

Foreign Languages Cannot Define Indian Identity

Shah further mentioned that foreign languages do not suffice in comprehending the culture, religion, and society of India. In his view, a true Indian outlook cannot come from a foreign linguistic design. Though he acknowledged that this change is difficult, he believes it can be achieved.

Faith in Societal Transformation

Shah was optimistic about the capacity of Indian society to achieve this change. According to him, if people commit themselves, they can restore the usage of indigenous languages throughout the country. He holds that with efforts such as these, India will be able to shape not just itself but the world as well through its own languages.

Agnihotri Calls for Reform in Civil Services Training

The training provided to central service officers must be reformed, said Ashutosh Agnihotri at the same event. He indicated that reforms are needed to bring the civil services in touch with Indian cultural and linguistic values.
