
Iran Denounces Trump's Insults of Supreme Leader
Iran denounced the recent remarks by former U.S. President Donald Trump against Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi indicated that Trump would have to speak politely if he wishes any advancement of a nuclear deal.
Trump's Social Media Post Regarding Khamenei
Trump, on his Truth Social account, alleged that he had rescued Khamenei from an assassination plot. Trump wrote, "I know exactly where Khamenei is. He did not die due to the strong U.S. and Israeli forces. I saved him, but he didn't thank me." Trump also added that he was once contemplating relaxing sanctions on Iran but later did a u-turn after listening to aggressive remarks aimed at him.
Iran Reacts to Trump's Comments
Foreign Minister Araghchi rebutted Trump's tweet. He commented that Trump's tweet was insulting to Iran's leader. He further mentioned that this kind of language would offend the sentiments of millions of Iranians who have a lot of support for Khamenei. Araghchi stated that if Trump wishes to get any agreement, he needs to be more respectful.
Iran Accuses the U.S. and Israel of Threats
Iran also responded vehemently to such open threats by the U.S. and Israel against Khamenei. Iran's UN representative referred to the threats as acts of terrorism. He urged the UN to take legal action against those making such remarks.
