Vijay Confirmed As CM Candidate; No Alliance With BJP Or DMK, Says TVK

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) made a crucial announcement. The party has officially declared actor and party founder Vijay as the Chief Ministerial candidate. This was declared in a resolution at the party's executive meeting at Chennai on Friday.

Statewide Events to Promote Party Agenda Planned

TVK is scheduled to hold a statewide congress in large numbers next month. The party is also going to hold public meetings at the village level. The meetings intend to disseminate the party's ideology into rural communities.

Vijay Turns Down Alliances with BJP and DMK

During the meeting, Vijay spoke to the media. He declared that TVK will not have alliances with separatist forces. He severely criticized the BJP, accusing it of playing divisive politics. Vijay declared that such politics are not acceptable in Tamil Nadu. He also declared that TVK is different from DMK or AIADMK, who have already had an alliance with BJP. Vijay declared that DMK and BJP are TVK's ideological rivals.

TVK Rejects Language Imposition

Several important resolutions were passed at the meeting. One addressed a recent statement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the English language. TVK labeled his remarks as harmful and against Tamil Nadu’s bilingual policy. The party made it clear that it opposes the imposition of Hindi and Sanskrit in the state.
