Rahul Gandhi Says BJP Victory Margin Narrow, Claims System Flawed
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has again raised serious questions regarding India's electoral process. Delivering a speech at the Legal Conclave 2025, he alleged that the electoral system has failed. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi won the 2024 general elections by a narrow margin. In Rahul's opinion, if BJP had not won 15 more seats, Modi would have never been elected Prime Minister for the third term.
Vote Tampering Charges and Role of EC
Rahul accused the EC of assisting the BJP through vote tampering. He stated that since 2014, he has experienced abnormality in the election process. He also questioned the Gujarat Assembly polls. He is convinced that the EC had a hand in what he referred to as "vote theft."
Fabricated Voter Information and Electoral Roll Problems Brought to the Forefront
While referring to such definite evidence, Rahul cited an example of a constituency where 1.5 lakh among 6.5 lakh voters registered on the voter roll were discovered to be bogus. He alleged that exactly the same kind of rigging happened in 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He stated that there is good proof of such malpractices from the Congress party and they intend to show this evidence in the near future.
Warning to EC Officials and Rejection by Election Commission
Rahul threatened that the officers who are accused in the purported vote scam should be brought to book even in retirement. He had earlier referred to evidence against the EC as "like a nuclear bomb." Retorting, the Election Commission rejected all charges. The EC has termed his allegations as unfounded and averred that such statements are irresponsible and misleading.
