Overview of the ‘Super Six’ Promise

As part of the coalition government’s ‘Super Six’ commitments, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched the ‘Stree Shakti’ scheme at Pandit Nehru Bus Stand, Vijayawada. The scheme is aimed at providing free travel for women in RTC buses across the state.

Chief Minister’s Remarks

While attending the event, CM Chandrababu asserted that the 'Super Six' promises have yielded good outcomes. According to him, the government is striving to rebuild the state and make people happy again. He added that in the tenure of the past government, people had to undergo difficulties.

The CM pointed out:

  • The scheme was inaugurated on Independence Day.
  • It offers free bus transport in the state to women.
  • The government has been empowering women through DWCRA and MEPMA associations.
  • Women have been employed as RTC conductors, and they are to be recruited as drivers.
  • The free bus facility is to be provided for 2.62 crore women.
  • Pensions are being given to 64 lakh beneficiaries.
  • The 'Talliki Vandanam' scheme assists children in education.
  • The government intends to generate 20 lakh jobs in five years.

Scheme Benefits

Women are being provided free travel in RTC buses for the following purposes:

  • Education
  • Medical reasons
  • Employment
  • Business
  • Religious visit

The scheme includes five categories of buses: Pallevelugu, Ultra Pallevelugu, Express, City Ordinary, and Metro Express.

Impact on Families

The Stree Shakti scheme is likely to benefit poor, lower-middle, and middle-class families:

  • Working women traveling will save on daily transportation charges.
  • Female students pursuing intermediate to higher education levels can travel without passes.
  • Women farmers, traders, and workers can travel free to towns.
  • Families may travel to big temples such as Tirupati, Annavaram, Srisailam, Simhachalam, Dwarakathirumala, Srikalahasti, and Kanakadurgamma in Vijayawada without having to spend much on travel.

The government believes that each family can save a monthly average of ₹4,000.

Ticket System

Even though tickets will be provided, no money will be charged from women passengers:

  • Tickets will be stamped under the Stree Shakti scheme.
  • The fare shown will be paid by the government as a subsidy.
  • The amount payable by the passenger will be ₹0.

Launch was attended by Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, Minister Nara Lokesh, RTC MD Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, RTC Chairman Konakalla Narayana, MP Kesineni Chinni, and some MLAs.
