Indian coach hails team's composed attitude
The actions of some Pakistan players in the Asia Cup Super-4 match against India (IND vs PAK) have been criticized. Body language by Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan was considered rude towards India. But the Indian team was praised for their stern reply with great performance on the field. Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate welcomed the composed behavior of Indian players and mentioned that the team prefers to retaliate with the bat.
Ryan ten Doeschate put pressure into perspective in the case of an India-Pakistan encounter. According to him, it becomes hard to suppress emotions in a match like that. He revealed that Rauf's behavior did not influence the Indians. He further indicated that the team maintained its focus on cricket and reacted accordingly with batting, resulting in victory.
Farhan and Rauf's behavior incite criticism
In the game three days back, Pakistan had batted first. Opener Sahibzada Farhan had made a half-century. His celebration where he had posed as if firing a gun drew criticism. A lot of Indian fans went on to criticize this gesture and compared it with terror-related accusations against Pakistan.
While India was batting, boundary fans chanted "Kohli" towards Haris Rauf. Rauf then mimicked fighter jets having crashed, a movement many associated with earlier India-Pakistan tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack. Rauf also gave the "6-0" signal, which sparked memories among fans of Pakistan's earlier threats of having shot down Indian jets.
The incident incited heated responses on social media. Indian supporters retaliated against Rauf's actions with memes and comments. Then Rauf had a confrontation with Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. Both of the players replied with runs on the ground, which angered Rauf even more.
