Pakistan Accuses Afghanistan Of Acting On India's Behalf In Border Conflict

Escalating Tensions Along the Pakistan-Afghanistan Border

The border between Pakistan and Afghanistan has seen rising tensions lately. A number of individuals have been killed in fights between both countries' soldiers. The Defense Minister of Pakistan, Khawaja Asif, spoke about the situation and blamed Afghanistan for fighting a proxy war on India's behalf.

Ceasefire Agreement and Pakistan's Suspicions

After the attacks, both nations signed a 48-hour ceasefire agreement. But Asif questioned the stability of the ceasefire. He said that the decisions about the ceasefire were being taken in New Delhi, not Kabul.
As per him, "There were intense attacks in Afghanistan. The ceasefire was reached only after the involvement of friendly nations, but it seems weak and may not last long."

Concerns Over Afghan Foreign Minister's Visit to India

Asif also criticized the recent Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi visit to India. He added that the six-day visit comprised of plans beyond usual trade or bilateral talks. Asif suggested that the visit would have some other political agenda and requested Afghanistan to refrain from further border escalation.

Background of the Recent Border Attacks

There have been some severe attacks in the past few days along the border, causing multiple fatalities. Following these, both countries declared a ceasefire. Pakistan's Foreign Ministry released a statement saying that both sides will engage in constructive dialogue for the duration and hoped for a peaceful resolution.

Afghanistan's Reaction to Ceasefire Conditions

Taliban administration reported that Afghan troops will remain serene if Pakistan honors the ceasefire. It reiterated that peace hinges on both nations' restraint from each other.
