India Raises Concern at the United Nations
India has asked Pakistan to end the continuing human rights abuses in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). During a debate at the United Nations General Assembly, Indian diplomat Bhavika Mangalanandan said that Pakistani forces had used force to suppress public dissent in the region.
She said serious human rights violations are going on in PoK and their immediate ending was required. According to Mangalanandan, innocent civilians were killed in these operations. She charged that Pakistan’s efforts to blame India during UN discussions over this were baseless.
India Denies Pakistan's Charges
Mangalanandan said there is no reason to focus on Pakistan's repeated hypocrisy and false claims. She underlined that Pakistan's denials cannot change the reality of the situation.
She referred to the recent participation of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in local elections, saying it reflects the democratic spirit and progress in the region. Mangalanandan said the social and economic development of Jammu and Kashmir showcases India's commitment to its citizens' welfare.
India Reiterates Stand on Jammu and Kashmir
Mangalanandan reiterated that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral part of India. She underlined that effective measures by the government continue to be taken to protect human rights and promote peace in these territories.
