Alexander Stubb on India's Global Role
Finnish President Alexander Stubb has voiced solid support for India in an interview recently. He said that he looks up to India and thinks its foreign policy is very balanced and efficient. Stubb noted that India is a significant contributor to global stability, and its voice should be heard more in international institutions.
Call for Reform in the United Nations Security Council
President Stubb underlined that countries like India should be part of the UN Security Council. He mentioned that the UN General Assembly has already discussed expanding the council's membership. According to him, not having countries like India as permanent members weakens the organization.
Proposed Expansion of UNSC Membership
Stubb proposed that the UNSC should include one permanent member from Latin America, two from Africa, and two from Asia. He repeated during the discussion that the inclusion of India would indeed strengthen the council and make it more representative of today's global order.
India as an Emerging Superpower
Stubb said India is becoming a global player on the same level as the United States and China. He hailed India's growing economic and political influence, stating that it deserves recognition at the highest international levels, and the continued progress and leadership that India demonstrates maintain it as one of the key countries in shaping the future world order.
