Statement by Trump on Mamdani Candidature
US President Donald Trump attacked Indian-origin New York City mayoral candidate Zohrab Mamdani of the Democratic Party, saying that if he wins the election, New York City might suffer from economic and social problems. He further claimed that with Mamdani at the helm, the stability and future of the city might be in jeopardy.
Comments on Ideology and City Funding
Trump defined Mamdani's political orientation as "communist" and was concerned that this may affect the running of the city. He added that if Mamdani becomes the mayor, his administration will only budget minimal federal funds for New York's basic needs.
