Russia Criticizes Pakistani Newspaper For Publishing Anti-Russian Articles

Russia's Objection to The Frontier Post

Russia has voiced dissatisfaction with The Frontier Post, an English-language newspaper headquartered in Pakistan. The Russian Embassy in Islamabad complained on social media that the paper publishes regular critical pieces on Moscow's policy and leadership.

The embassy has pointed out that The Frontier Post cannot be regarded as a purely Pakistani newspaper since its head office is in Washington. The statement further mentioned that the editorial staff is following an agenda from abroad, especially from the US.

Claims of Biased Reporting

The Russian Embassy claimed that The Frontier Post regularly advocates for viewpoints against Russia's foreign policy and President Vladimir Putin. It also observed that the paper had not published even a single article reflecting a positive view of Russia.

Moreover, the embassy noted that although the newspaper reports a lot on Afghan news, it had completely ignored the “Moscow Format of Consultations,” which is a platform for regional dialogue on Afghanistan.

Response from The Frontier Post

The Frontier Post hit back by defending editorial freedom. The paper denied Russia's accusations, arguing that it aimed to carry 'representatives of all points of view'. It also criticized the attempts to depict Russia as a 'basket case' that would soon break down economically.

Russia's Economic Position

Russia, while making these remarks, stressed that the country's economy remains stable and continues to grow irrespective of international sanctions and other forms of external pressures. The Russian Embassy underlined the increase in the country's GDP by 4.1% in 2024, demonstrating steady growth compared with the previous years.
