Jio Introduces Intra Circle Roaming Plans In Partnership With BSNL

Reliance Jio, in association with BSNL, has introduced new ICR recharge plans, enabling Jio subscribers to use the BSNL network for rural and remote areas where the coverage of Jio is not good. Presently, such plans are available for subscribers in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

New ICR Recharge Plans

Reliance Jio has unveiled two ICR plans with 28-day validity:

  • ₹ 396 plan: 10GB data, 1,000 minutes of talk time, and 1,000 SMS.
  • ₹196 Plan: This pack offers 2GB data, 1,000 minutes of talk time, and 1,000 SMS.

Those plans work only on BSNL's network and will be accessible when the Jio signal is unavailable, then by manually selecting the BSNL network. Jio plans to extend these services to other regions very soon.

Understanding Intra Circle Roaming (ICR)

Sometimes, the mobile signals are weak or unavailable even in urban areas. To address this problem, the Department of Telecommunications introduced an Intra Circle Roaming facility in January 2024.

The technology will allow subscribers to use a network other than their home operator's whenever the latter is out of reach. These services leverage towers set up under the DBN, as created by the Government of India through the Telecom Act, 2023.
