Authorities Investigate Possible Terror Connection
A fresh detail has emerged about the explosion that took place near the Red Fort in Delhi. Apparently, officials suspect that the blast might be part of a big terror conspiracy. The car in which the explosion took place was last registered in the name of a doctor hailing from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. According to media reports, official sources have confirmed that this person had connections with a terror module based in Faridabad. Authorities have begun a detailed investigation since the incident took place.
Foiled terror plot in Jammu and Kashmir
Earlier, police in Jammu and Kashmir detected a major terror plot. They seized around 2,900 kilograms of explosives, which included ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, and sulfur. Two suspects, identified as Dr. Muzammil and Dr. Adeel, were arrested in Faridabad, Haryana. After their arrest, the owner of the car used in the Delhi explosion, Dr. Umar Mohammad, reportedly became anxious and went missing.
Sequence of Events Near the Red Fort
According to intelligence sources, the car exploded near the Red Fort just after being in motion toward the heart of the city. Preliminary investigations have reported that a huge amount of ammonium nitrate was the reason behind the explosion. The surveillance footage showed that the car was running in that area before the blast.
Suspected Suicide Attack
The investigators suspect that Dr. Umar Mohammad, linked to the Faridabad module, was in the car at the time of the explosion. Investigators believe that he died in the blast. Authorities have been investigating if this is a case of a suicide attack. Apart from this, Jammu and Kashmir police have taken a person named Tariq from Pulwama into custody for interrogation. Preliminary inquiries show that the vehicle used in the attack had changed hands multiple times before the attack.
