Fog Afflicts Northern States
Satellite images depict that dense fog covers northern states, including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar. The Delhi government has activated strict measures to control air pollution.
Air Quality Reaches Severe Levels
An AQI of 403 was recorded in Delhi on Monday morning as per reports by the Central Pollution Control Board. Places heavily affected include Vivek Vihar, which recorded an AQI of 460, followed by Anand Vihar at 459, Rohini at 445, and Wazirpur at 444. Officials stated that efforts regarding pollution control have been enhanced since many areas in the city are entering into the severe zone of pollution.
Travel Disruptions Caused by Fog
- Low visibility is causing delays in the train and flight services. Several trains, such as Rajdhani Express, Vande Bharat and Jan Shatabdi, among others are running late. Delhi airport has issued advisories to the passengers. Airlines have asked travellers to check their official websites for updates on cancellations and changes in schedules.
- The Ministry of Civil Aviation shared customer support phone numbers of all airlines on Monday to assist the passengers.
