BCCI Vice President Criticizes Pakistan Over Bangladesh T20 World Cup Issue

BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla stated that Pakistan has provided false information to Bangladesh about the T20 World Cup 2026. He stated that Pakistan pursued its self-interests while pushing Bangladesh to adopt a challenging stance.

India Offered Security and Support

  • Rajeev Shukla explained that India wanted Bangladesh to participate in the tournament. He said India assured full security for the Bangladesh players. Despite this assurance, Bangladesh requested that all its matches be held only in Colombo.
  • He said that changing complete tournament schedule at final moment became unworkable. Scotland became the replacement team because of this situation.

Allegations Against Pakistan’s Role

  • Shukla said Pakistan interfered unnecessarily in the matter. He explained that Pakistan played a crucial role which caused Bangladesh to change its decision. According to him, Pakistan presented itself as a supporter of Bangladesh while misleading them.
  • He also referred to historical events between the two countries. He said the people of Bangladesh were aware of past injustices faced during the time of partition. He described Pakistan’s current actions as inappropriate.

ICC Confirms Tournament Update

The International Cricket Council announced Scotland as the replacement team after Bangladesh refused to play matches in India. The T20 World Cup will start on February 7. India and Sri Lanka will jointly host the tournament.
