Introduction to ‘24 Postal’ Services
The India Post has introduced new delivery services to improve speed and efficiency. The new services deliver urgent shipments which include both documents and parcels. The department launched three premium options under the ‘24 Postal’ initiative.
The new services include
- 24 Speed Post
- 24 Speed Post Parcel
- 48 Speed Post
These options will deliver packages to customers within 24 hours or 48 hours according to their chosen service.
Launch and Leadership
- Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia and Minister of State for Communications Pemmasani Chandrasekhar officially launched the services.
- The launch establishes a path that leads to improved logistics speed and service quality enhancements for the postal system.

The services begin their first stage of operation in these major metropolitan areas
- Delhi
- Mumbai
- Chennai
- Kolkata
- Bengaluru
- Hyderabad
The department will introduce these services to additional locations during upcoming service expansion phases.
Key Features of the New Services
The '24 Postal' services offer multiple features which enhance user experience and tracking capabilities:
- OTP-based delivery for secure handover
- SMS alerts for real-time updates until delivery completion
- Buy Now, Pay Later option for business customers
- Free pickup for bulk shipments
- Geo-tagging for better tracking accuracy
- Centralized billing for easier payment management
- The department will issue a refund when delivery gets delayed according to service terms.
Growth of the E-commerce Market
- The Communications Ministry reports that India's current e-commerce market value stands at approximately ₹11 lakh crore. The market will experience substantial growth which will bring its value to ₹30 lakh crore by the year 2030.
- These new delivery services aim to support this growth by offering faster and more reliable logistics solutions.
