Government Directs Oil And Gas Companies To Share Stockpile Data

Centre Issues Directive for Energy Monitoring

The government of India has mandated oil and gas companies to supply complete operational details about their activities. The government implemented this measure during the current West Asian conflicts to maintain energy stability throughout the nation.

The directive requires companies to share data on:

  • Current stock levels
  • Production volumes
  • Consumption patterns
  • Import quantities

Focus on Centralized Monitoring System

  • The government issued this notification to create a centralized system for monitoring petroleum and natural gas supply. The system provides authorities with two functions: it provides them with resource availability data and it enables them to manage unexpected resource shortages.
  • The Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) requires companies to submit all necessary information. The organization will gather and process data to assist decision-making procedures.

Objective: Secure Energy Supply

The main goal of this directive is to protect public interest by ensuring uninterrupted access to energy resources. The government can better control supply risks when every data element becomes visible which results in improved energy sector stability.
