Iran Blames US For Breakdown Of Peace Talks

Iran’s Position on Failed Negotiations

  • The recent peace talks which aimed to end the ongoing conflict failed because the United States blocked progress according to Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf who serves as the speaker for Iran's parliament.
  • The 21 hours of negotiations Ghalibaf described included multiple constructive proposals from the Iranian delegation but the United States failed to establish trust with Iran. He shared this statement on the social media platform X.
  • The Iranian delegation for the talks included Ghalibaf and Abbas Araghchi who served as its leaders.

Trust Issues and Key Statements

Ghalibaf stated that Iran entered the talks with both goodwill and intent to resolve the conflict. However their trust in the other side decreased because of their past experiences with previous conflicts.

He emphasized the following points:

  • Iran presented practical and forward-looking proposals
  • The United States failed to build confidence
  • Trust remains a key condition for future agreements

The United States now understands Iran's position and principles according to him. He stated that the United States must take certain steps to rebuild trust between both parties.

Public Support and Strategic Approach

Ghalibaf described Iran as a nation of 90 million people. The citizens showed strong public support through their response to the Supreme Leader's call according to him.

He outlined Iran's approach to the conflict:

  • Diplomacy remains an important tool
  • Military action is also considered a valid option
  • Protecting national rights is the main objective

He stated that Iran will continue its work to build upon the achievements which it gained during the 40-day conflict.

Outcome of the Talks

  • The peace talks between Iran and the United States took place in Pakistan. The discussions ended without an agreement between the two sides.
  • J. D. Vance said that the talks failed because Iran did not accept US conditions. In response, Iran claimed that the United States made unreasonable demands.
