Prime Minister Narendra Modi Meets Padma Vibhushan Awardee Vyjayanthimala In Chennai

Legendary actress Vyjayanthimala, who was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday in Chennai. The PM expressed gratitude for their congratulations and mentioned that Vyjayanthimala is well-liked in the nation for "her exemplary contribution to the world of Indian cinema."

The Prime Minister highlighted that she had just been awarded the second-highest civilian distinction while posting pictures of their meeting in Chennai on social media.

He said, "Happy to have met Vyjayanthimala Ji in Chennai," in a post on X. She just received the Padma Vibhushan award and is well-liked throughout India for her outstanding contribution to the Indian film industry."

This year in January, the central government announced the 90-year-old renowned actress and professional dancer as one of the recipients of the Padma Vibhushan award. Vyjayanthimala is one of eight Tamil Nadu residents who have been selected to receive a Padma award for 2024 in recognition of her artistic contributions.

110 Padma Shri, 17 Padma Bhushan, and 5 Padma Vibhushans have been awarded this year. Thirty of the recipients are female.

Vyjayanthimala has received respect not only for her acting but also for her accomplishments in classical dance and her extraordinary Bharathanatyam dancing abilities.

During his two-day tour to Tamil Nadu and Telangana, which began on Monday, PM Modi stopped in Chennai and saw a crucial operation at a state-run nuclear power plant. In the presence of the PM, the nation's own Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR), situated at Kalpakkam, roughly 60 km from Chennai, began core loading.

Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited is the company that developed this 500 MWe fast breeder reactor (BHAVINI).

The PM was accompanied by Ajit Doval, the national security adviser, among others. He also spoke at a public gathering in Chennai thereafter.
