The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly updated its annual player contracts for the 2025–26 season. Media reports confirm that senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli received a demotion from Grade A+ to Grade B.
Contract Category Changes
- Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have stopped playing Test and T20 cricket. The players now compete exclusively in One-Day International matches. Both players used to belong to Grade A+ which provided them with an annual salary of ₹7 crore.
- Grade A players receive ₹5 crore per year under the current payment system. The system grants Grade B players ₹3 crore while Grade C players receive an annual payment of ₹1 crore.
- Reports exist that the organization plans to eliminate the Grade A+ category from its system. The BCCI has not yet confirmed the new payment structure.
