Trump Proposes Peace Plan, Hamas Agrees To Partial Terms

Hamas Reaction to Trump's Plan

Former U.S. President Donald Trump proposed a plan to bring an end to the current war between Hamas and Israel. Trump issued a warning to Hamas regarding the dire implications of not accepting. As a reaction, Hamas issued a statement stating it approved certain aspects of the plan.

Hamas said it was prepared to release all Israeli detainees under Trump's plan. But it added that there were still some matters that needed more discussion. The group was willing to negotiate immediately and reiterated willingness to transfer the administration of Gaza to a Palestinian independent technical body. Hamas also appreciated Trump, as well as Arab, Islamic, and international allies, for peace efforts.

Call to Stop Bombing Gaza

Once Hamas indicated a willingness to accept, Trump called on Israel to end bombarding Gaza. On Truth Social, he said that Hamas seemed willing for enduring peace and that ending the attacks would be necessary to facilitate the release of hostages safely. He cautioned that ongoing strikes would make the process more difficult.

Hamas embraced Trump's statements and announced that it was ready to begin negotiations over halting war, prisoner swaps, and organizing Israeli troop withdrawal from Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also recognized Hamas's stance, affirming preparation for the initial phase of Trump's proposal.

Main Points of Trump's Plan

Trump peace plan has 20 points. Israel has embraced the plan, and Hamas was presented with a Sunday deadline to agree. In reaction to pressure, Hamas embraced the first phase.

Major points are:

  • Hamas has to release all hostages in 72 hours.
  • Israel has to free 250 Palestinian prisoners.
  • Hamas will not have any governing powers in Gaza.
  • Hamas's weapons infrastructure and tunnels need to be destroyed.
