Virat Kohli's Hint Sparks Speculation: AB De Villiers' Role In RCB For IPL 2024

AB de Villiers, a former captain of South Africa, will be in India for the next Indian Premier League season. The former batter for Royal Challengers Bangalore disclosed on his YouTube account that he will spend the opening few weeks of the 2024 Indian Premier League in Mumbai. De Villiers is scheduled to work as an IPL broadcaster.

De Villiers also participated in the 2023 season with the broadcasting team. Despite the fans' pleading, the player has not taken part in the Indian Premier League since 2021. In addition, De Villiers discussed his conversation with Virat Kohli and hinted that he could be interested in taking on a brief coaching role at the RCB during the 2024 season.

On his YouTube channel, de Villiers stated, "Nothing has been confirmed yet; Virat has hinted that he might want me to come over and spend a bit of time with him and some of the batters."

One of the most formidable batters in tournament history is AB de Villiers. After 184 games and 5162 runs scored, the hitter announced his retirement from the IPL. De Villiers, along with Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli, was a standout player for the Bengaluru-based team. De Villiers was one of the field's most nimble players even in the latter stages of his career.

De Villiers declared his retirement from all forms of the game in November 2021. The batter disclosed that he had trouble batting following an eye surgery.

"Next year, I'll visit Chinnaswamy Stadium. but not for a game of cricket. I want to apologise to the supporters of the Royal Bengal Tigers for not having won the IPL yet. In addition, I wish to thank them for their help during the previous ten years. I am no longer able to play cricket. As a result of my right eye operation," de Villiers stated in 2022.
