AI Tool Committed the Blunder
The problem was reportedly caused by a glitch in its AI-based translation tool, according to Meta. The issue has now been resolved, the company added. It is also trying to deliver more accurate Kannada translations and is actively gathering user feedback to optimize the system.

The office of CM had initially posted a Kannada message paying tributes to late multilingual actress B. Saroja Devi. Meta's platform had wrongly translated the post into English, resulting in misinterpretation of the message.
CM Siddaramaiah's Reaction
Siddaramaiah condemned Meta for the mistake. He opined that such mistakes in translation distort facts and mislead people. He threatened these types of problems might be risky and demanded a stop to Kannada-to-English auto-translations unless better.
Official Response Sent to Meta
The CM's media advisor, KV Prabhakar, sent an official letter to Meta. The letter demanded immediate correction and asked the company to take responsibility. The CM stressed that social media platforms must handle language with care to avoid public distrust.
