User Statistics

As of December this year, "DigiLocker" has 60.35 crore registered subscribers. Out of this number, 25 crore subscribers regularly use services like certificates through the app. Others had installed the app but did not make it their usual habit to use it.

Purpose of DigiLocker

The government came up with the DigiLocker service, which is intended to safely store government identity cards and certificates. The identity cards and certificates include the following:

  • Educational Documents

The application enables document browsing and scanning by users, thus eliminating the need for physical documents. The DigiLocker system was inaugurated in 2015.

When government officials need identification, users can display it through the app. Car owners can also use DigiLocker to safely store driving licenses, vehicle registration documents, and insurance papers, thus eliminating the need for physical storage.
