Mark Zuckerberg Accuses Biden Government Of Censorship Pressure

Meta CEO Highlights Vaccine-Related Content Removal

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has accused the Biden administration of exerting tremendous pressure on Meta to censor content about COVID-19 vaccine side effects. Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Zuckerberg shared his concerns about government interference in social media platforms.

This is particularly true with respect to pushing COVID-19 vaccines," Zuckerberg said. "He says he has more good than bad results, but he's uneasy about an effort to close conversations about potential side effects," the report further noted. The White House asked Meta to pull posts referencing vaccine side effects or those with objectionable content.

Some examples include:

He even mentioned the case of one very popular meme when an actor Leonardo DiCaprio joked, as if perhaps maybe the vaccine's side effects would actually bring them payment someday. The list of those deleted included those removed in reaction to White House guidelines. "It was not only absurd but also I did not feel required," he said in disagreement about the degree of censorship required.

Meta's Change of Censorship Position

Recently, as controversy was reported surrounding Meta's approach to content moderation, updates on the said matter were made public by the firm's owner. In a video, he said the level of censorship has reached the high level it never did. "We're now at an all-time high level for censorship," declared Zuckerberg. "From now on, we'll zero in on lowering our error rates. We'll strive to clarify policies, freedom and speech will regain the spaces for all."

Hailing from among those people include former U.S. President Donald Trump and the billionaire Tesla founder, Elon Musk who said they really admire the platform's stand regarding free speech, along with work on its task of deterring misinformation.
