Karun Nair Reacts To Being Dropped From India's Test Squad Against West Indies

Karun Nair's Response

India will play a two-Test series against the West Indies (IND vs WI). The choice panel, led by head chief Ajit Agarkar, announced this. Karun Nair was left out.

Nair admitted that he had been disappointed. He expected a call-up after almost eight years, he claimed. But his recent performance did not help him. He had not been any special contribution during the last tour of England, and that was to work against him.

Nair had this to say:

I used to think that I would be picked for the Tests. But that did not occur. I do not know what to tell you. Only the selectors can explain their decision. During the last match against England, while the others had failed, I scored a half-century. That innings helped the team to win. But that was not being considered this time.

What the Selectors Said:

Ajit Agarkar explained the logic. He cited that the selectors demanded more from Nair. He further stated Nair played four Tests but was disturbed in one innings.

Agarkar further indicated the chance given to Devdutt Padikkal. He further stated the committee felt like giving opportunities to new players. Ideally, every player needs to play 15 to 20 Tests, but that may not be possible.
